commissioned by the National Public Art Council Sweden, completed April 2007.
My intention with "The City" was to create a work of art that is an integral part of the building. The installation covers an area of 40m2. It is visible from the very entrance. 450 light dots are spread out over the wall in the form of an imaginary city. The lights are carefully programmed, each separately, to give life to "the City".
At the first glance it gives a very quiet impression. The dynamic lays in the peaceful variability with rare moments of more intensive action. The white colour dominates. Under long periods light cells sporadically emerge. Some scattered dots light up, more appear and sometimes the whole city can light up. The intensity of light may change and some colour action appears.
It is possible to experience "The City" every working day from 8am - 7pm in the County Administrative Court, Tegeluddsvägen 1 in Stockholm.
